photo from next week's Doctor Who episode
So there are a bunch of episode stills from next week's mid-season finale drifting around the internets, most of which are spoilery for things like characters/costumes rather than Major Plot Developments but still, spoilers.
I am going to post one particular one here because I found it comforting in this time of distress. If we could keep spoiler discussion limited to this and BBC-released promo stuff for the episode, that would be lovely!

AMY HAS HER RORY AND HER RIVER. IT WILL BE OKAY. After presumably much more mortal peril and angst and wtf reveals and so on, but still. Hi, guys, look at you being all in the same shot and vaguely okay. That works for me.

I'm interested to find out why Rory's dressed like a Roman again. It's like 'Roman Rory = butch Rory. Regular Rory = weak.' is the sentiment they're making via the costume department.
no subject
That's what I'm really hoping for, yes.
And yeah, the Roman thing is both odd and sort charming, I don't know! I'm intrigued to see how it's explained.

He's like a superhero! Seemingly ordinary guy who becomes a SERIOUS BADASS via costume change!

I wonder if Roman!Rory returning is going to have anything to do with the Doctor asking him in 6.01 whether he remembered that 2000 ears or not. HM.

And yes, I wonder! That would be pretty cool, because I'm really interested in that part of his character and sad they haven't done more with it this season. I am also quite charmed by the idea that he's like 'right, need to rescue Amy. This calls for a cloak.'

And yeah, I just look forward to everything about this ep, now. Rory's puttin' on his rescuin' clothes!

RORY THE ROMAN. RIVER SONG. THESE THINGS ARE GOOD. It's going to be a looooong week.

So it looks like we have Amy in the white medical scrubs from her pregnancy prison, Rory in his centurion outfit, and River in her own prison uniform? (Actually, scratch that--River wears something different every time we see her, but that's the dress she changed into after she jumped into the TARDIS's swimming pool and wore until the Doctor dropped her off and they kissed for his first and her last time.)
Where are they? I'm wondering if they're in Stormcage, because there's at least one scene in the trailer that shows River through bars, though she's also in another (not nearly so flattering) outfit.
I'm wondering if the fact that the Doctor isn't in the photo means that Rory and Amy might be meeting River after 6x02, because they might be exceptions from the dictum that the Doctor and River can only meet in reverse order. Then again, it's hard to imagine that the two of them won't come together during the episode, so that might be more wishful thinking on my part than anything else.
And then there's the crib with the mobile, which is everyone's favorite shade of blue! And the way that Rory and Amy are standing united and together, but looking mistrustful of River, who looks like she's trying to tell them something urgent. Can anyone make sense of the design on the crib's side?
The BBC prequel talks about imprisoning a child, which makes yet another parallel between her and River, so I still think River is the little girl and that Rory and Amy are her parents. But who knows if I'm right...

See, okay, my immediate assumption on seeing River's outfit was that it's going to disprove the strict reverse order theory, so I really hope that's the case. But then, given that River presumably already knows about how the Doctor finds out who she is... oh I don't know, there are too many variables. This may pick River up in multiple points in her time stream, for instance, as my guess is that one of the first things the Doctor's going to do in the episode is go and get her, because you would, wouldn't you.
And yes, the crib! Which looks super Gallifreyan to me - the symbols, the headboard etc. Plus the mobile from 6x02. What does it meeeeean?
Yeah, River being Amy and Rory's kid continues to be my guess, even though it kind of breaks my brain, not to mention puts an inconvenient dent in my OT4. But I am prepared to be persuaded around to the idea!

And multiple Rivers = MORE RIVER GOODNESS. Maybe one of them won't wear any clothes! *dreams*
Since I'm now convinced that Amy was already in scary alien custody when she found the mobile in the orphanage and dreamed the whole sequence in the little girl's room, I'm wondering if the mobile she saw (which was considerably more human) was her confused dreaming mind's take on the 3D one we see here. And I wonder if it's not just a mobile--if the knobs and planets actually have an effect on the child. Which would be just how I'd expect Time Lords to design nursery gear, frankly.
Also, what is Amy holding in her hand? A piece of the mobile, or something that she's holding out to River? Some type of proof of the baby's identity? Has anyone speculated?

That looks very much like the crib for a Time Lord baby, though, doesn't it? It has Gallifreyan writing carved into the sides, it's possibly TARDIS blue, and it has a hilarious Time-Lord-headdress headboard. WHAT DOES IT MEAN, MOFFAT.

And yes, I agree! WHAT WHAT WHAT. And the headboard is, indeed, hilarious.

RIVERRRRRRRR! Who appears to be wearing the same dress as when she went all River Tam on the Silents
Roranicus! Double hot.
And once again, Pond adventuring in her jammies. Sweet, sweet girl. Also, looking good for a (presumably) New Mom.
I'm so glad other people are not completely distracted by the people and pointed out the bassinet. Very interesting!
